Becky, Darlene, and Books Signed by Gayle Forman

Check out those chompers!

About my sister.  Growing up, my sister and I fought like cats and dogs.  Cats. And. Dogs.  We’ve had screaming matches, we’ve ratted each other out fueled by anger and spite, we’ve even beaten the crap out of each other.  I may be the little sister, but I was also a little tougher than princess here (although she did bite me once and I had a HUGE bruise on my arm for weeks!). Imagine Becky and Darlene from Roseanne.  She was Becky and I was Darlene.  And yeah, there’s also a DJ.  We call him David.  Anyway, oddly enough, as adults Becky and I are best friends.  The very best of friends, actually.

So, when she went to the International Reading Association conference (which I couldn’t go to) she of course was the first in line to meet Gayle Forman and get my copy of If I Stay signed.  And she of course started telling Gayle Forman all about how her little sister is a writer and has a YA book coming out next year.  And she of course also got me a signed copy of Where She Went.  Because that’s what a big sister—who gets in a fight with you and secretly records the whole thing, including when you repeatedly scream “F*%@ Off!” and then blackmails you to do her bidding or she’s going to give it to Mom—does.

The even cooler thing is that Gayle Forman signed one of the books “Welcome to the YA Club!”  Isn’t that awesome?  And I owe it all to Becky (who, incidentally, is going to KILL me for using her second grade picture above but what’s she gonna do?  Bite me…again?).

So thanks, Nance, for the books. For the shirt, too.  And also, uh, whatever happened to that tape?

And also, love you.

  1. You have such a sweet sister! Did you read Where She Went yet? I finished it the other week and it’s AMAZING. 🙂

  2. REscarcega says:

That’s what siblings are for… to kick each others butts! 🙂 So cool you guys are close and do stuff for each other like that. Let me know if she reverts back and takes a bite out for posting her kid pic! 😉

    • Yeah, she’s pretty cool. And no bites yet, though she HATES this photo and keeps wondering when I’m going to take it down…hehehe, payback.

      • Nancy says:

Yes, I’m wondering…and still checking…and that gross little picture is still here!! I think I am going to start a blog…and post “adorable” pics of my little sis! Then again, maybe it would just be easier to bite you again. 😉 Love you!

      • Ha! And, yeah…no. I don’t need anyone wondering who that little boy is (again, thanks for the hair, Mom. Thanks.)
Come on, Chomps, it’s not that bad! I love this pic of you! But you know, it would be funny if you still had that tape. You were a vicious blackmailer.

      • Did I mention we might use this pic of you for the book cover, heeheehee.

  3. I love this post! I have a sister too, and one time she threw a brick at me. Although, in her defense, it was after I threw a cup of milk in her face (she totally deserved it, though)! But now she’s one of my biggest cheerleaders! Here’s to sisterhood!

  4. I love you both!! You’re so much like my sister and I, it’s crazy!

  5. Oh… and my sister bit me once too!!!
